Hospital da Misericórdia de Évora - Rede Hospital da Luz

The Hospital da Misericórdia de Évora, owned by Santa Casa and managed in partnership with Luz Saúde, underwent a project of expansion and reorganisation. The key challenge was the insertion of a new wing within the narrow space between the existing hospital and the operational nursing home. To the south, along the internal road, a single-storey volume was introduced to redefine the main entrance. To the north, the new building rises two storeys, connecting seamlessly with the existing ground and first floors. The interface with the nursing home is articulated through courtyards that ensure ventilation and natural light, that enhance and ensure natural ventilation and daylight for both buildings.
